Cooking Collegium - Competitions
January 24, 2004
Whippany, NJ
Food Competition
Think of it as a tasting board with prizes.
We will break the competition down into two categories: documented and
traditional. Depending on the number of entries we can further break the
categories down into types of food - dishes, desserts, sauces, etc, if necessary.
Documented Category: The dish has been redacted from a period recipe,
and this is your version of it. Please bring appropriate documentation and
ingredient listing.
Traditional Category: There is no period recipe for the dish per se,
but based on historic or scholarly evidence (like archeological reports), we
know that this food was eaten during the scope of the SCA. Please bring
appropriate documentation and ingredient listing.
Brewing Competition
There will be two categories: cordials and beer/meads. Please bring appropriate
documentation and ingredient listing.
Iron-Age Chef Competition
Two lucky auction winners will compete in the Iron-Age Chef Competition
during the feast. Each contestant will get the same ingredients (many pre-cooked)
and supplies and have 15 minutes to create medieval style foods.
