Cooking Collegium
January 24, 2004
Whippany, NJ
Mangia, mangia, mangia! But before you can eat, you have to learn
how to cook! The Barony of Settmour Swamp invites you to
to learn all about creating feasts at our Cooking Collegium on January 24th,
from 10:30 am to 9 pm at the American Legion Hall #155, in Whippany NJ.
We have classes to satisfy your brain and your stomach, for
beginner chefs to advanced ones.
Throughout the day, cooking, brewing, and herb related classes will be
taught. We will have three types of classes: technique and theory, tasting
(sampling foods) and hands-on (cooking in a kitchen). There will
be an all-day How to Run a Kitchen class, in which the
students will actually cook the evening's feast.
A
list of classes
is on-line, and will be updated up until the day of the event.
The day's activities (see schedule) will also include
a meeting of the East Kingdom Cooks' Guild, Cooking and Brewing
Competitions, an
auction and a Bake Sale (donated baked goods are welcomed, please have an
ingredient list). There will also be roundtable discussions on
various SCA cooking topics as well as mini-classes demonstrating
certain cooking techniques.
There is room for Guild Meetings or other
types of gatherings -- please contact the autocrats to schedule a
meeting.
For more information about the
event, classes, and competitions,
contact the autocrats,
Lady Elisabetta Maldestro (Elissa Klotz, 201-362-5860,
e-mail); and Baroness Ursula of Northwoods
(e-mail)
Merchants
We have round tables and chairs available for merchants. The cost is the site
fee plus $10 dollars or the site fee and an item donated to our auction (if you
decide to donate please let us know so we can get you a receipt for the tax
deduction). We need to know how many tables you need (3 is the max) and if you
need access to electricity. You can arrive at 10 am to set up.
We prefer that merchants somehow connect to our theme, but that is not a
requirement. Please contact the autocrats for more information.

The event is onboard only and includes a light dayboard and a feast.
Please, please make reservations, so we can adjust our class and feast sizes.
