Directions

One and all are invited to attend the Barony of Settmour Swamp's 28th annual Celebration of the Thawing of the Mud. As always Mudthaw will feature a wide variety of activities: tournaments in Armored Combat, Rapier, and Youth Combat, Archery, Thrown Weapons, a brewing competition and an array of Fine Merchants. Mudthaw will again be held at the beautiful and spacious Salaam Shrine in Livingston, NJ.

NOTE: All combatants must troll in before they can sign up for any lists. There will be an express check-in available on the field for combatants who pre-register. Reserve ahead and avoid the morning lines at troll.

Their Majesties have declared that a grand Arts and Science competition will be held during Mudthaw to determine Their Arts and Science Champions. They wish to extend an invitation for all artisans in the Kingdom to come and show off their best work, and compete for the honor of representing Their Majesties as one of the Kingdom's Champions of the Arts and Sciences.

Dayboard will be provided by Asa in Svarta, and in the evening a fine feast prepared by Riordan a'Bheithir and Quinn a'Bheithir will be served.

This site is damp - The autocrats request that you drink out of period containers. No pets are permitted. Enclosed flames may be used at the feast. The event begins at 10 am and ends at 10 pm.

Please include in clear print:

  • Modern and SCA names of each attendee, and ages of minors
  • Type of reservations you are making
  • Contact info (mailing address, and e-mail address/phone number)
  • Proof of membership, if a member
  • a Self-Addressed, Stamped Envelope, or e-mail address, to receive an Express Check-in letter

Make checks payable to SCA, Inc - Barony of Settmour Swamp. Please mail in your reservations by March 14, 2008. Any remaining feast spaces will be sold at the door.

We will have Express Check-In at Troll for those who have made reservations. To receive your express check-in letter, please include either your e-mail address (preferred) or a self-addressed stamped envelope with your reservation. We encourage fighters and fencers to send in reservations so that they can get to the lists quickly!

Note: At 5:00 pm, unclaimed feast reservations will be sold to the waiting list. If you plan on arriving after that time, please let the autocrat know.

A $3 non-member surcharge will be collected from those adults without proof of membership. If you intend to use the express check-in, please send proof of membership with your reservation and a SASE for the express check in letter. Acceptable proof of membership includes a copy of your membership card, a current Pikestaff label with your name on it, or the proof of membership letter from the SCA web site.

Children are welcome but we ask you to please supervise your children at all times. Anyone under the age of eighteen who is not with a parent must be accompanied by an adult and must present a consent form signed by a parent which includes contact information for the parents. If a minor does not have a blue SCA membership card then a minor waiver signed by a parent or guardian must be presented at troll. Copies of the minor waiver form are available on-line at http://www.sca.org/docs/waivers.html and will be available at the event.

Baronial refund policy

  1. Site fees and merchant fees will be refunded if your request is received before the event.
  2. Feast fees will only be refunded if your space can be resold.
  3. All refunds will be paid by check from the Baronial bank account; refunds requested on the day of event will be mailed out.

Merchanting Info

There is a $5.00 merchant fee. All merchants MUST be pre-registered with the merchant-o-crat two weeks prior to the event ( March 14, 2008). Merchant fee is to be paid with registration for event. Please note, merchant space is limited.
