Teahouse of the White CraneFebruary 17, 2001Canton of Gryphonwald (Edison, NJ) |
Konnichi wa! Leave Western Europe behind, caravan forever eastward through and beyond the lands of the sultans, along the winding and desolate Silk Road. Traverse great mountains and ford mighty rivers to "find yourself" in a teahouse in Feudal Japan. Dig out and dust off your finest kimono. All travelers are welcome from the far corners of the empire and beyond, be they empress, samurai, geisha, mongol or field peasant.
Peruse the wares in the marketplace. Thrill to comedic and dramatic stage performances and live musical entertainment. Make pilgrimage to a magnificent Shinto shrine and be awed by the sight of the distant and majestic Mt. Fuji.
There will be workshops, demos, and various contests, a display of arts and sciences, and a silent Chinese auction.
We encourage those attending to dress in Japanese/Asian garb. Naturally, authentic attire is most welcome, but something as simple as a long, appropriate lounging robe and pants would suffice. Red represents good fortune. Entertain the idea of using the teahouse colors (black/red/white) for your table setting (round). Include a teapot and cups with your feast gear.
A modest amount of pre-registered merchant space is available. We especially entreat merchants selling Japanese/Asian themed merchandise (kimono/weaponry/teas) and services (Shiatsu massage/acupressure) $3 per table. Further inquiries contact the autocrat.
Troll is open from 3PM-7PM, the site
closes at 10PM, and is damp. Courses of food
will be served hourly beginning at 4PM.
